The Conference Center opened in the fall of 1997. It is adjacent to the Venture Towers Building which houses the Eastern AHEC offices on the campus of University Health Systems of Eastern Carolina. The 10,000 square foot building was jointly funded by Pitt County Memorial Hospital and the NC AHEC Program.

The facility is used primarily for educational programs sponsored by Eastern AHEC, Pitt County Memorial Hospital and the ECU Division of Health Sciences. It contains several distinct training areas designed to handle specific training needs. When completely open, the largest area accommodates about 120 persons in a classroom arrangement. There are several small classrooms or break-out rooms, two videoconference rooms and a dining room with a catering kitchen.
