The Eastern AHEC Dental Health Education department provides continuing education to dentists, dental hygienists, and dental assistants in the Eastern AHEC region. A collaborative partnership between the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry and the NC AHEC Program helps address the oral health needs in North Carolina and the major issues confronting the dental profession. Dental Societies and Study Clubs have access to dental faculty through the Eastern AHEC program.

Continuing education courses range from required certification courses such as OSHA training to clinical courses specific to the practice of dentistry, such as periodontal disease, oral surgery and pharmacology in dentistry. In addition, a more extensive certification course in Intraoral Radiography (dental x-rays), as mandated by the State of North Carolina and the North Carolina State Board of Dental Examiners, is offered several times a year.
